Matthew Haskin’s practice focuses on estate planning, tax planning, business law and business advisory services. Matthew has drafted a large variety of simple and complex estate plans, including Wills, various types of Trusts, Power of Attorneys, Medical Directives and letters of wishes. He has prepared specialty Trusts, including, but not limited to, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts, Generation Skipping Trusts, and Charitable Remainder Trusts. In addition to drafting estate plans, Mr. Haskin has experience administering small and large estates in Maryland and DC. He has assisted numerous clients with the funding of their Trusts and the administration of estates on behalf of deceased client’s families. Matthew’s corporate law experience assists him in ensuring that an owner’s business and exit plan is considered, and integrated, when preparing that person’s estate plan.
In his business practice, Mr. Haskin handles a variety of corporate matters, ranging from entity formation through exit planning and eventual exit. He serves as outside counsel for several companies in the tech and cannabis industries and has assisted them with the drafting and/or review of various corporate agreements. Prior to joining BBS&G, Mr. Haskin prepared the documents for and closed on a client’s fifth round of financing after successfully closing the four prior rounds. He also guided another client through the sale of its business to a publicly traded company during the height of the pandemic just one year after the new CEO acquired the business.
