Kevin McParland has more than 30 years of experience as a lawyer and authority in the areas of commercial and residential landlord-tenant law and community associations, including condominiums, housing cooperatives, and homeowners associations. In his decades of practice experience, he has litigated thousands of cases on behalf of large commercial and residential landlords, property owners, and property management companies before the trial and appellate courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. He also provides day-to-day counsel on a wide variety of legal issues to owners and managers of commercial properties, multifamily housing, and community associations.
Mr. McParland’s practice also includes a substantial transactional component. He drafts and negotiates commercial and residential lease agreements, amendments, and assignments, purchase and sale agreements, management agreements, community association bylaws, housing policies, and a variety of other documents in connection with real estate and general business matters. He also regularly advises clients with respect to lease defaults, modifications, workouts, cures, and remedies.
As a result of his deep knowledge and experience, clients and other lawyers regularly call on Mr. McParland to assist in devising innovative solutions to complex and often frustrating landlord and tenant, real estate, and business matters. He has performed comprehensive reviews and revisions of lease contracts in the wake of legislative and judicially mandated changes in residential housing laws; devised a regulatory-compliant scheme to expand the availability of public housing programs for the homeless; and recovered real property from recalcitrant family members in disputed estate cases.

Originally a native of Long Island, New York, Mr. McParland has called Maryland home since 1974. After graduating from the Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Natural Sciences, he worked as biochemist in the Department of Biophysics at Johns Hopkins Hospital before earning his J.D. at American University Washington College of Law.
