Timothy P. Schwartz handles a wide variety of commercial transactions and estate matters, providing experienced, efficient and committed representation to clients throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He also works closely with numerous high-technology clients (including computer software developers and licensees, Internet businesses, and telecommunication providers), as well as general corporate clients, on a wide range of issues affecting their businesses. Mr. Schwartz has extensive experience in a wide variety of matters with a special emphasis in real estate transactions, formation and/or incorporation of companies or partnerships, and negotiating and drafting high-tech contracts and employment agreements. He is particularly skilled in providing high quality legal representation with respect to all aspects of the commercial landlord/tenant relationship, from the negotiation of a lease agreement to the eviction of a tenant upon a default.

Mr. Schwartz regularly drafts, negotiates, interprets and enforces leases and related contracts. He handles residential and commercial real estate contracts and disputes. He is also skilled in estate planning and administration, including preparation of Wills, powers of attorney, medical directives and trust agreements.

Mr. Schwartz joined Bregman, Berbert, Schwartz & Gilday, LLC in 1986. Prior to that he worked as an associate for Thomas H. Price, III, P.A., working mostly in corporate, commercial and business law areas. In 1984, Mr. Schwartz began working at Dunnells, Duvall, Bennett & Porter doing research and drafting legal documents in the areas of taxation, securities, bonds and real estate. Also in 1984, Mr. Schwartz worked for the corporate tax department at Marriott Corporation, as a Summer Associate and Law Clerk.

Mr. Schwartz was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania, on January 25, 1960. He graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1977, admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1985, the Virginia Bar in 1986, and the District of Columbia Bar in 1986. In 1988, Mr. Schwartz was admitted to the U.S. District Court Bar for the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. District Court Bar for Maryland. He received a B.A., magna cum laude from the University of Maryland in 1981 and his J.D., cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 1985. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa as well as The American Criminal Law Review, 1984 -1985. Currently, Mr. Schwartz is a member of the Prince George's County, Montgomery County, Maryland State, Virginia, and American Bar Associations. He is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
